The Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Music and the Spoken Word program has been voted into the National Radio Hall of Fame.
"We thank the Radio Hall of Fame and all of our listeners who honored us in this way," said Mac Christensen, president of the choir.
Music and the Spoken Word began in 1929 and airs on 2,000 radio, television and cable systems worldwide. The half-hour program is narrated by Lloyd D. Newell and features inspirational messages and songs from the 360-member choir.
Music director Mack Wilberg added, "This is especially significant for us, not only because of the very talented individuals who were also nominated with us in the National-Pioneer category, but also because the selection was determined by vote of the American listening public."
You can follow the choir on Twitter and Facebook.
The choir will be officially inducted in November.
