Temple Open Houses, Dedications and Rededications

Latter-day Saints worship in temples for several reasons: to make sacred promises with God, to learn more about God’s plan for His children and the central role of Jesus Christ in that plan, and to unite families for eternity.

Visitors of all ages are invited to a free public open house held for most new or renovated temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The open house includes a video and a walk-through tour of the temple. After the temple is formally dedicated, entrance is reserved for faithful members of the Church.

The Church now has 367 total temples — dedicated, under construction or announced and in planning, including 17 new temple locations President Russell M. Nelson announced at general conference on October 6, 2024.

The 367 as of January 13 include:

202 temples dedicated
3 temples scheduled for dedication
49 temples under construction
2 temples scheduled for groundbreaking
54 temples with published site locations
57 announced temples in planning but without sites made public

The most recent temple dedication was the Tallahassee Florida Temple on December 8 by Elder Patrick Kearon.

Upcoming Open Houses, Dedications and Rededications

Dates of upcoming free public open houses and dedications or rededications are listed below. This article will be updated as new dates are announced on Newsroom.

Toronto Ontario Temple. Open house runs February 13 through March 8, 2025, excluding Sundays. Dedication is set for March 23, 2025, by President Jeffrey R. Holland.

Auckland New Zealand Temple. Open house runs February 27 through March 22, 2025, excluding Sundays. Dedication is set for April 13, 2025, by Elder Patrick Kearon.

Abidjan Ivory Coast Temple. Open house runs May 1 through May 17, 2025, excluding Sundays. Dedication is set for May 25, 2025, by Elder Ronald A. Rasband.

Nairobi Kenya Temple. Open house runs April 17 through May 3, 2025, excluding Sundays. Dedication is set for May 18, 2025, by Elder Ulisses Soares.

Temples dedicated in 2024 include the Tallahassee Florida Temple, Casper Wyoming Temple, Deseret Peak Utah Temple, Salvador Brazil Temple, San Pedro Sula Honduras Temple, Mendoza Argentina Temple, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Temple, Layton Utah Temple, Salta Argentina Temple, Cobán Guatemala Temple, Taylorsville Utah Temple, Puebla Mexico Temple, Urdaneta Philippines Temple, Manti Utah Temple, Red Cliff Utah Temple, Orem Utah Temple, and Lima Peru Los Olivos Temple.

Forty-nine temples are under construction.

In 2025, groundbreakings have been announced for the following temples:

Tacloban City Philippines Temple will be held on January 18, 2025.
Cali Colombia Temple will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

In 2024, groundbreakings were held for the following temples:

Knoxville Tennessee Temple, on January 29.
San Luis Potosí Mexico Temple, on March 9.
Teton River Idaho Temple, on June 1.
Cleveland Ohio Temple, on June 1.
Santa Cruz Bolivia Temple, on June 8.
Ribeirão Prêto Brazil Temple on June 22.
Austin Texas Temple, on August 17.
Londrina Brazil Temple, on August 17.
Santiago West Chile Temple, on August 17.
Cagayan de Oro Philippines Temple , on August 31.
Wichita Kansas Temple, on September 7.
Tarawa Kiribati Temple, on November 2.
Grand Rapids Michigan Temple, on December 7.

Temple Closures for Renovations

Salt Lake Temple — Closed since the end of 2019 for seismic upgrades and extensive renovations, the temple had its projected completion date recently amended to 2026.

Stockholm Sweden Temple — Closed March 2023.

San Diego California Temple — Closed July 31, 2023, with estimated completion in 2025.

Kona Hawaii Temple — Closed October 2023, with estimated completion by late 2025.

Toronto Ontario Temple — Closed October 2023 for renovation with a reopening date scheduled for December 2024.

Anchorage Alaska Temple — Reconstruction project beginning in 2024 will enlarge and relocate Anchorage’s house of the Lord while current temple remains open.

Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple — Closed February 24, 2024.

Orlando Florida Temple — Closed July 1, 2024.

Manhattan New York Temple — Closed March 2, 2024.
